Majorcan hellebore (Helleborus lividus )

The Majorcan hellebore (Helleborus lividus ) is a kind of family Ranunculaceae. It is with the Corsican hellebore (Helleborus argutifolius Viv. ) Closely related; both are therefore considered as subspecies of a species Helleborus lividus.

Features

The Majorcan hellebore is an evergreen, perennial, herbaceous plant, the plant height of 20 to 50 (65 ) reaches centimeters. The species forms a rhizome. The leaves are loosely annoying and more or less entire, only in youth, they have a stronger perforation on. Your top is marbled through the silver-white to yellowish venation.

The flowering period extends from December to April.

The chromosome number is 2n = 32

Occurrence

The Majorcan hellebore comes to Mallorca and Cabrera in front of Northern exposed sites on fresh, stony ground as well as in masonry and rock niches of ravines.

Use

The Majorcan hellebore is often used as an ornamental plant for alpine houses and rock gardens.
