Helmut Müller-Brühl

Helmut Peter Müller -Brühl ( born June 28, 1933, Brühl, † January 2, 2012 ) was a German conductor.

Life and career

Helmut Müller -Brühl, born in 1933 in Brühl near Cologne, studied philosophy and theology in Bonn, in connection violin / viola at Ernst in Cologne Nippes and with Wolfgang Schneiderhan in Lucerne. He was the founder in 1958 of the Brühl Palace Concerts, as its director in 1995 he succeeded Andreas Spering. In 1960 he founded the Cologne-based ensemble of soloists and was founded in 1964 as the successor of Erich Kraak chief conductor of the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, which he led until 2008.

In 1976 he founded the Capella Clementina as Baroque formation of Cologne Chamber Orchestra and the Festival " Lindauer Spring" on Lake Constance. In 1988 he initiated the subscription series " The Masterpiece " at the Cologne Philharmonie in life.

Helmut Müller -Brühl died on 2 January 2012 at the age of 78 years. and was buried on 9 January 2012 at the South Cemetery Brühl.

Work

Müller -Brühl devoted himself to the repertoire of the Baroque and Viennese Classicism and played with his ensembles, about 200 CDs.
