Helmut Oblinger

Helmut " Heli " Oblinger ( born March 14, 1973 in Schärding, Upper Austria ) is an Austrian canoeist.

Life

Living in Schärding time soldier was as a teenager member in the Upper Austrian ski team, but soon ( influenced by his parents ) to the canoe slalom. After a 28 rank in one's kayak at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the first successes came in 1998 with a second place at the World Cup finals. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Oblinger was fourth. As highlights followed by a World Cup and two European Championship medals. After he had occupied the 13th place in Athens at the 2004 Olympic Games, Oblinger took in 2008 for the fourth time in the Olympic Games in part and finished seventh. In his fifth Olympic Games 2012 in London Oblinger finished in 8th place.

Helmut Oblinger is married to the canoeist Violetta Oblinger - Peters and since 2009 the father of a boy. 2013 came her second common son.
