Helmut Tollmann

Helmut G. Tollmann (* 1945 in Cologne) is a German artist who for over 30 years dealing with photography, painting, installation and large-scale projections.

Life

H. G. Tollmann graduated from 1961 to 1964 trained as a graphic designer. Subsequently, he studied until 1968 at the Cologne factory schools and graphic design. Besides his work as a graphic designer, he was also active as a freelance artist. From the early 1970s Tollmann employed, under the influence of Paintings by Max Ernst with the representational painting and the architectural and landscape painting. From the mid- 1970s he began technical and electronic processes to connect with his art. These include multimedia, illuminations, the development of multi-layer technology and experimentation with new materials, similar to the development of industrial technology. Communication and especially the electronic communication is an important aspect in the work of Helmut Tollmann.

The Cologne-based artist used early contacts with other well-known artists such as Max Ernst, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Hans Hartung, Andy Warhol, and Charles Paul Wilp, whom he met on his travels around the world and art projects.

Toll 's works are, inter alia, in the collections of Daimler- Chrysler, Acer, Cologne Trade Fair Grounds and Dielektra -Siemens represented, as well as other public and private collections. Solo exhibitions of his work there was, inter alia, in Germany, Belgium, Slovenia, Italy, Greece and the USA. Overall, he can look back on over 400 worldwide exhibitions and events.

Projects such as Soul of chip, Cosmic Prayer, Cosmic Soul '' are probably the most important works of his career. 2001, collaboration began with the Art and Cultural Foundation Artforum Culture Foundation in Greece. In 2004, he portrayed Pope John Paul II ( Sancto Subito art project ). In the same year he was awarded the Marina Arts Festival in Ravenna for Best International Artist. In his hometown of Cologne Tollmann acted partly in urban behalf and on behalf of the Cologne fair so in his monumental paintings: The Eye of Trude Herr.
