Hemoperitoneum

As Hämaskos (male, from Greek αίμα, "blood" and ασκός, "tube" ) or as Hämatoperitoneum hemoperitoneum or bleeding in the abdominal cavity is called. It is potentially life threatening. Bleeding into the peritoneal cavity are after injuries and operations, by spontaneous rupture of an aortic aneurysm, a hemangioma of the liver or the fallopian tube or even in general bleeding tendency ( bleeding diathesis ) possible. In addition to severe pain in the abdominal cavity through the peritoneal irritation quickly sign of shock and blood loss ( pallor, weakness, poor general condition ) can be reported. The auscultation of the abdomen shows a weakening of the bowel sounds, in lean individuals, an increase in waist circumference is observed. The blood picture shows next to a waste of erythrocyte count and hematocrit almost always leukocytosis. Treatment consists primarily of the operative extraction of the blood and supply the specific source of bleeding. In a broader sense, a bloody ascites is called Hämaskos sometimes.
