Hendecasyllabic verse

Hendekasyllabus (Greek ἑνδεκά "Elf " and Greek συλλαβή " Summary, syllable" ) is an ancient verse, also called Phalaikeios or phaläkischer verse, and has been widely used in the small seal, such as Catullus or Martial. As the name suggests, there is a line of verse of 11 syllables, quantitierend according to the following scheme:

OO - vv - v - v - v: Da mi basia / mille, deinde centum. In the second syllable very often occurs a length to the point of brevity, other irregularities are rare. The turning point is either the double or shortly after the third elevation, in the example of Catullus so basia of the word.

German replication: ( Walt Whitman )

This verse is not identical with the Italian hendecasyllable.
