Hendrik Timmer (tennis)

Hendrik Timmer ( born February 8, 1904 in Utrecht, † November 13, 1998 in Bilthoven ) was a Dutch tennis player. In addition, he was also national champion in squash and successful golfers.

Life

Hendrik Timmer won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles with his partner Bouman Kornelia at the Summer Olympic Games in 1924 in Paris. Twice in his career he reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 1927 and 1929. Between 1923 and 1936 occurred Timmer in 26 matches for the Dutch Davis Cup team to. It won 32 of his 47 individual lots and eleven of his 18 double batches. With a total of 43 games won Timmer is still the Dutch player with the most wins in Davis Cup history.

As his Olympic partner Bouman was Timmer also in other disciplines successful: he won several golf tournaments and in 1941 a Dutch national champion in squash. He also participated three times elfstedentocht.

On 13 November 1998, only four days before Bouman Kornelia, Timmer died 94 years old in Bilthoven.
