Henri Julien Dumont

Henri Julien Dumont Henri Dumont (born 21 January 1859 in Beauvais, † 1921) was a French painter and printmaker.

Life

Henri Julien Dumont came in 1859 in Beauvaise on the Oise to the world. About the life of the artist, who was mainly active in Paris, little is known. Initially he worked on portraits, nudes and genre paintings in the academic style and presented since 1880 regularly in the Salon de Paris. Perhaps through his wife, the actress Ellen Andrée, he later turned to the impressionist style to and painted landscapes and cityscapes. Since 1884, he participated in exhibitions at the Salon des Independants. From the 1890s he turned increasingly to painting of floral still lifes. At the World Exhibition of 1900 in Paris, he received a bronze medal as an award. In addition to paintings includes his work drawings, pastels, prints and poster designs.
