Henri Maïdou

Henri Maidou ( b. 1936 ) was Prime Minister from 1978 to 1979 today Central African Republic.

Political career

Maidou belonged to was founded in 1949 by Barthélemy Boganda party Mouvement pour l' l'Evolution Sociale d' Afrique Noire ( MESAN ), which was after the country's independence from France in 1960 for the Unity Party. He was the reigning since 1966 Jean- Bédel Bokassa, who called on July 14, 1978 Prime Minister of the " Central African Empire " since December 1976 Emperor Bokassa I.. Since early 1979, the government was confronted with massive protests against Bokassa's rule. With the overthrow Bokassa by his cousin, the former president David Dacko Maidou changed on 26 September 1979 from the Office of the Government in the of the Vice President.

In the presidential elections of 15 February 1981, he reached as a candidate of the party Parti Républicain de Progres (PRP ) with 24 007 votes ( 3.28% ) in fourth place. Dacko won with 51,10 % and was overthrown on 20 September 1981.

President Ange-Félix Patassé, at the same time Maïdous predecessor as prime minister under Bokassa, appointed him on 28 December 2002 as the coordinator for the " national dialogue " to end the unrest in the country. On 11 July 2003 he was appointed Advisor in the rank of Minister of State from a few months previously exposed by a coup to power President François Bozizé.
