Henri of Lorraine-Vaudémont

Henri de Lorraine - Vaudémont (* probably after 1430, † October 20, 1505 in Joinville ) was Bishop of Therouanne and then of Metz.

Life

He was born the son of Antoine de Lorraine - Vaudémont (1400-1458) and Marie, Countess of Harcourt and Aumale and Baroness of Elbeuf ( 1398-1476 ). Already at the age of 11 he was out in 1441 as a canon in Toul and Metz. After studying in Paris in 1456 was the appointment as Bishop of Therouanne in Flanders.

While his brother Ferry II accompanied the campaign of Duke John II of Lorraine, Catalonia, Henri took over from in 1468 to manage the county Vaudémont. After the death of George of Baden, he was appointed on October 15, 1484 to the Bishop of Metz. On May 6, 1485 he officially took over this office. In favor of his nephew Jean de Lorraine - Guise, he renounced on July 26, 1501 officially on the diocese, but remained as diocesan administrator further in office, because his nephew was only three years old.

During his tenure, the construction of the Cathedral of Metz was completed with the construction of the choir and the chapels. He is buried in the Collegiate Church of Joinville.
