Henrietta Island

The Henrietta Island (Russian остров Генриетты ) is one among the De Long Islands belonging uninhabited island of the New Siberian Islands. It lies in the northern part of the East Siberian Sea.

The Henrietta Island is located 12 km ², its highest elevation is 315 m. Your consisting mainly of sandstone surface is covered by glaciers.

The island was discovered by the U.S. polar explorer George W. DeLong, whose last 21 months trapped in the ice ship passing operation in May 1881 Henrietta and her neighbor Jeannette before it was crushed on June 12 by the ice and sank.
