Henrik Stenson

Henrik Stenson ( born April 5, 1976 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and the North American PGA Tour.

Career

After a successful amateur career - finally he played for his country in the 1998 Eisenhower Trophy in Chile - beat Stenson end of 1998, the career and won the very next season 1999/ 2000, the Order of Merit of the Challenge Tour. Thus he came 2001 on the European Tour and won there so far six tournament wins and several top rankings in top events. 2005 Stenson aft of the European Tour Order of Merit ( money list ) in 2006 he improved to sixth place in 2007 to fourth place, and ranked among the top 20 in the World Golf Rankings. After winning the Players Championship in May 2009 Stenson reached Rank 5 in the meantime his best finish in the world rankings.

He was first drafted into the European team at the Seve Trophy in 2005 and was team's Best. In 2006 he won the Royal Trophy Europe in a team against the best golfers in Asia and was also in the victorious team in Europe in the Ryder Cup. In November 2008, he took with Robert Karlsson of the World Cup for Sweden.

After these successes Henrik Stenson went through a deep sporty crisis, during which he slipped out temporarily from the top 200 in the world rankings. Only in the year 2012 he enlisted with his next tournament victory ( European Tour - the South African Open ) back.

A new career highlight was a in 2013, when he was next to some top placings (including second at the British Open ) win two of the highly doped playoff tournaments of the FedEx Cup and at the same time secure the overall victory with $ 10 million in prize money. Thereafter, he also won the Race to Dubai on the European Tour and has therefore the first golfer in history in the same season these two important annual evaluations can decide for themselves. In the world rankings to Stenson improved to third place.

The game

Stenson is left-handed, but plays right-handed golf.

A striking feature of his game is the fact that he rarely uses his driver; most long haircuts he performs ( without using a tea ) with a 3-wood, with which he agreed acceptable distances with high accuracy. So he led in the 2013 season, the PGA Tour in the statistics of the measures fairways with 72.65 %, while he (266 meters) after all, still on rank 66 (of 180 ) came with an average discount length of 290.9 yards. This style of play helped him to ranking position 1 in the statistics " greens in regulation " ( 71.96 %).

Two quirks of Stenson's momentum are a slightly jerky shifting your weight to the right leg before the start of the backswing and a shortened forward swing at the golf club usually stays before Stenson's chest and does not vibrate as with the majority of modern professional golfer behind the neck or head.
