Henry Hugh Clutton

Henry Hugh Clutton ( born July 12, 18501909) was an English surgeon.

Career and work

1872 Clutton was a student at St. Thomas Hospital. Four years later he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Clutton worked as a medical assistant, then as a surgeon at St. Thomas Hospital. From 1887 to 1893 worked as a surgeon at the Victoria Hospital for Children in Chelsea.

1886 Clutton published in The Lancet, an article about the relationship of the symmetrical synovitis and of congenital syphilis, which he recognized as the first. Later this disease was named after him as Clutton 's syndrome. The changes in the joints are given as the Clutton joints (English Clutton 's joint ) refers.

Cluttons grave is located on the Brompton Cemetery, West Brompton, in southwest London.
