Henry IV, Duke of Carinthia

Henry IV of Carinthia (c. 1065/70; † December 14, 1123 ) from the house of Spannheimer was 1122-1123 Duke of Carinthia and Margrave of Verona.

He was the eldest son of Count Engelbert I of Spanheim and Hedwig of Saxony, daughter of Duke Bernhard II After the death of his godfather (not: uncle ). Duke Heinrich III. of Carinthia, the last Eppensteiner, he inherited from that in 1122 the duke and margrave dignity, but not its rich Allode that fell to the Traungau. ( This led, for example, the " provincia Graslupp ", i.e. the whole Neumarkt and Sankt Lambrecht area, and the Murau region, which hitherto Carinthia (county Friesach) had heard of Styria. ) However, the Margraviate was only still divided into personal union of the Duchy of Carinthia.

Henry died a year after his government takeover, 1123. Was succeeded by his brother Engelbert.
