Henry Louis, Prince of Nassau-Saarbrücken

Heinrich Ludwig Karl Albrecht von Nassau -Saarbrücken ( born March 9, 1768 in Saarbrücken, † April 27, 1797 at Cadolzburg ) was no longer the reigning Prince of Nassau- Saarbrücken, since the country was occupied from 1793 by French revolutionary troops. He was the last descendant of the House of Nassau -Saarbrücken.

Life

He was the son of Ludwig ( Nassau- Saarbrücken) and Wilhelmine von Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt ( 1751-1780 ). The marriage was unhappy, so that Wihelmine retired at Schloss Halberg and there raised their son.

He first studied at Strasbourg University and from 1782 to 1785 in Göttingen physics. He then traveled 1786 he was in Berlin and in the spring of 1787 in Italy.

On 14 May 1793, he had to flee from the French castle Neunkirchen and entered Prussian military service. He had to watch as his ancestral castle went up in flames in October 1793. On November 14, 1793, he is a colonel in the Prussian cavalry. 1794 his father died and he inherited the title of prince. But already in 1797 he died after falling from his horse. Since he had no offspring, inherited Karl Wilhelm of Nassau- Usingen.

Family

He married on October 6, 1785 Marie Franzisca Maximilia of Montbarrey (* November 2, 1761; † February 2nd 1838 ) daughter of Alexandre- Marie de Saint- Mauris de Léonor Montbarrey. The marriage remained childless.
