Henry Olin

Henry Olin ( born May 7, 1768 in Shaftsbury, Bennington County, Vermont, † August 16 1837 in Salisbury, Vermont ) was an American politician. Between 1824 and 1825 he represented the third electoral district of the state of Vermont in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Henry Olin attended the common schools and then studied law. After qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in his new profession. In 1788 he moved to Leicester in Vermont. Politically, he joined, founded by Thomas Jefferson Democratic- Republican Party. Between 1799 and 1804, 1806-1815 and 1817-1819 and again in 1822-1824 he was a deputy in the House of Representatives from Vermont. In the years 1814, 1822 and 1822 he was a delegate to each meetings to revise the constitution of Vermont. Between 1801 and 1824 he was also a judge at the district court in the Addison County. In the years 1821 to 1822 Olin also belonged to the Governing Council of Vermont.

After the death of Congressman Charles Rich Olin was elected in the by-election became necessary in the third district of Vermont as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he finished between 13 December 1824 to 3 March 1825, the Unopened legislature. In 1827 and 1830, Olin Lieutenant Governor of Vermont. He died in August 1837, and was buried in Leicester. Henry Olin was the nephew of Gideon Olin (1743-1828), who was also 1803-1807 for Vermont in Congress.
