Henry Paulson

Henry M. Paulson Jr. ( born March 28, 1946 in Palm Beach, Florida; Complete name Henry Merritt Paulson, Hank nickname ) is an American businessman and politician. From 1999 to 2006 he was Chairman and CEO of the investment bank Goldman Sachs On 30 May 2006 nominated U.S. President George W. Bush Paulson for the post of finance minister. The nomination was confirmed by the Senate on June 28, 2006. From July 3, 2006 to January 20, 2009, Paulson was the successor of John W. Snow of 74 finance ministers of the United States. He was succeeded by Timothy F. Geithner from the administration of Barack Obama.

Biography

Paulson grew up on a country estate in Barrington Hills, Illinois, on. He was Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America Scouting. Paulson graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College, where he was also a member of the fraternity Phi Beta Kappa. He was also a member of the All - Ivy League ( union of all eight elite American universities), the All - East League ( union of all the prestigious universities in the U.S. East Coast ) and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Noteworthy are his membership of the environmental group Green Key Society at Dartmouth College and his service as chairman of the local Christian Science organization.

Career
