Henryk Trębicki

Henryk Trębicki ( born October 22, 1940 in Janowszczyn in Białystok, † June 8, 1996 in Warsaw) was a Polish weightlifter.

Career

Trębicki was born in the small town Janowszczyn in Białystok. In the chaos of war his family was deported by the Soviets to Siberia. After the end of the second world war, the family was able to return to Poland. As a young man Trębicki, which was only 1.59 m tall and weighed 60 kg, sports club WKS Zamosz with the weight lifting began. His first coach was Tadeusz Skąmski. After soon became clear that he was an extraordinary talent in this sport, the head coach of the Polish Weightlifting Federation Clement Roguski personally took care of him. In 1962, he started with a lot of success in the Polish and from 1964 in international championships. He represented Poland at the Olympic Games in 1964, 1968 and 1972, winning in 1968 in Mexico City a bronze medal in the bantamweight. He was also in the Einzelsisziplinen three times world and European champions. Trębicki normally weighed 61 to 62 kg, and trained for the most important competitions always 5 to 6 kg of body weight from to start Bantamweight (up to 56 kg body weight) can. Featherweight ( up to 60 kg body weight) was nationally and internationally for him the competition too strong.

Trębicki, who worked as a cinema operator, completed after finishing his playing career, a coach training and then worked at the sports club LKS Ostravianka as a coach.

He died in 1996 after his major surgery.
