Hens Bach in Schweinheim

Template: Infobox River / Obsolete

The Hens Bach or Gailbach is under 6.5 km long right tributary to the Main and East Bavarian Spessart.

Geography

Course

The Hens Bach arises as Obersölchgraben south-east of Aschaffenburg Gailbach the Gailbachquelle. As these dry days often runs dry, the creek then arises from small streams and springs at the foot of the White Mountain ( 358 m), such as the Siegmund fountain. A stone at the Gailbachquelle has set in 2005, the home club.

The creek runs in a northwesterly direction through the place where it is called as this Gailbach. Here the Pfaffengrund river, the river flow from the Emperor fountain in the Maihohle, the Klinger Bach and the Neuwiesenbach. Below in Schweinheim the Hens stream flows to its largest tributary Dörnbach from the right. Thereafter, it is further reinforced by the Herbig Bach and the Bach from the Seeborn. It crosses in Aschaffenburg in the Oberauer colony the state road in 2309 and joins the Main.

Around 1810 was from below the Eckert mill a mill canal to Schipfermühle - later called Reußenmühle - created, who crossed the Oberauer road at the broken island and culminated at about the level of Aschaffenburg Lamprechtstraße in the Main, but today no longer exists. Its history is still visible in some places in the area, partly to its relief, partly as a narrow strip of land.
