Herálec (Žďár nad Sázavou District)

Herálec ( German Heraletz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers south-east of Hlinsko and belongs to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou. The municipality was created in 1952 by the union of the places Český Herálec and Moravian Herálec.

Geography

Herálec is located at the headwaters of the Svratka in a clearing in the woods of Saarer mountains. The village is situated on both sides of the river, which forms the historic border between Bohemia and Moravia here. To the north of Krk stands ( 655 m), to the east of the Na Čermačkách (722 m) and Hřeben (715 m), southeast of the Devět skal ( 836 m), in the south of the Žákova hora (809 m ) southwest of the Otrok (717 m) and Kamenný vrch (802 m) and in the west of the Vortovský vrch (704 m).

Neighboring towns are Kameničky and Chlumětín in the north, Svratouch, Svratka and Přední Hůra in the northeast, Křižánky in the east, Samotín the southeast, Brušovec, Kocanda, Cikháj in the south, Mariánská Huť, Karlov and Nová Huť the southwest, Vojnův Městec in the west and Vortová and Lhoty in the northwest.

History

The location on the border between Bohemia and Moravia probably goes back to a foundation by Gerhard Zbraslav and Obřany († 1291 ). His father Boček of Jaroslavice and Zbraslav († 1255 ) had 1252 on Libitzer climbing founded the Cistercian monastery Saar. As a founding date of Moravian Heraletz is assumed in 1279. 1312 went out with Gerhard's son Smil the family of the lords of Zbraslav and Obřany, a branch of the family of the Lords of Kunštát in the male and the goods fell to Henry of Lipa. First mentioned in writing was the place in 1366 in the wake of a border dispute between the monastery and the rule of Nove Mesto. 1496 acquired Wilhelm II of Pernštejna the Moravian share. On bohemian area is from 1604 the glassworks Mariánská Huť proven. She was decommissioned in 1914. 1952 were combined to form a community Český and Moravian Herálec.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Herálec Brušovec ( Bruschowetz ), Český Herálec ( Bohemian Heraletz ) Kocanda ( Gottseida ) Kuchyně ( Kuchin ) and Moravian Herálec ( Moravian Heraletz ) and the settlements Čermačky, Chaloupky, Family, Mariánská Huť and Na Place.
