Herbert Blöcker

Herbert Blocker ( born January 1, 1943 in Fiefharrie, † February 15, 2014 in Elmshorn ) was a German eventing rider, who won three Olympic medals in three Olympics start.

Career

Herbert Blocker from the Riding and Driving Club Elmshorn in 1971 behind Harry Wiseman second in the German Championship. 1973 at the European Championships in Kiev Blöcker occupied the second place in the individual competition and won by the German team in the team competition. At the World Cup in 1974, he won Albrant together with Martin Plewa, Horst Karsten and Kurt Mergler the bronze medal. As a German champion of 1974 and 1975 Blöcker was also a member of the team that won the bronze medal at the European Championships in 1975. At his first Olympic participation in 1976 in Montreal Blöcker rode with Albrant to 13th place in the individual standings. Along with Karl Schultz, Helmut Rethemeier and Otto Ammer man Blöcker received the silver medal behind the team from the United States. 1978 were Blöcker and Albrant together again and win together with Otto Ammer man, Harry Wiseman and Helmut Rethemeier the silver medal at the World Championships. After the Olympic boycott of 1980 Blöcker rode Ladad at the 1982 World Cup and won with Helmut Rethemeier, Dietmar Hogrefe and Rüdiger Schwarz the silver medal in the team competition.

In the late 1980s Blöcker had with the chestnut mare born in 1976 Fine lady a horse, with which he should be even more successful than with Albrant in the 1970s.
