Herbert Ettengruber

Herbert Ettengruber ( born July 19, 1941 in Munich) is a German politician. As a member of the CSU he belonged from 1996 to 2008 at the Bavarian State Parliament.

Life

After visiting the Humanistic Gymnasium in Straubing and military service Ettengruber studied in Munich law. In 1969 he became personal assistant to the former Member of Parliament Franz Josef Strauss for four years. Finally, he moved in 1973 in the Municipality of the Town of Straubing, where he worked as a social speaker and business expert to 1996.

Political career

His political career began in 1969 with the entry into the CSU. On 1 April 1996 Ettengruber moved to the Bavarian Parliament, where he served until 2008. He was from 1996 to 2002 a member of the Committee on Social Policy, 1996-2003 Member of the Committee for Federal and European Affairs and a member of the Commission of Inquiry reform of federalism - strengthening the national parliaments. He is currently a member of the Committee on Municipal issues and Homeland Security (since 2002), Chairman of the Parliamentary Control Panel (since October 2003) and Vice-Chairman of the Working Group for Local issues and Homeland Security of the CSU parliamentary group (since October 2003). For state elections in Bavaria in 2008, he did not stand for re-election.

At the municipal election in 1990, he took up for the office of Mayor of the Town of Straubing, but lost Fritz Geisperger (SPD ) in the runoff election with just under 48 %.

Ettengruber is the owner of the Bavarian State Firefighting Medal of Honor. In addition, he was awarded the 2006 Bavarian Order of Merit.
