Herbert James Hagerman

Herbert James Hagerman (* December 15, 1871 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, † January 28, 1935 in Santa Fe, New Mexico ) was an American politician and from 1906 to 1907 Governor of New Mexico Territory.

Early years

Hagerman first attended public and private schools of his home in Wisconsin. He then continued his education in other areas of the USA. So he visited such as the Colorado College and Cornell University. After studying law he was admitted in 1895 in Colorado as a lawyer.

Political career

Between 1898 and 1901 Hagerman was employed by the U.S. embassy in St. Petersburg in Russia. In 1901 he settled at Roswell as ranchers down and in 1906 he was appointed as the new territorial governor of New Mexico. This office he held only until 1907. During this time he could put no great political accents. After his governorship, he went back to his private interests. He died in January 1935 in Santa Fe.
