Herbert Meyer (footballer)

Herbert Meyer ( born June 12, 1948 in Bremen ) is a former German football player. He played in his career total of 201 times in the Bundesliga.

Career

About the youth teams and the amateur team succeeded Meyer in 1968 in the first team of Werder Bremen. His first Bundesliga match, he denied on October 5, 1968 ( 9th Round ) against Eintracht Braunschweig, when he came on in the 68th minute for Helmut Schimeczek. In the 1968/69 season, he still came to two further operations against MSV Duisburg and FC Bayern Munich. In the following two seasons, he came up with 13 or 16 missions, although frequently used, but it remained mostly in substitutions.

In 1971 he moved to Kickers Offenbach in the then second-rate Regionalliga Süd, with which it once in the first season with the team mates Walter Bechtold, Fred Werner Bock Holt, Horst Gecks, Siegfried Held and Erwin Kostedde managed the Bundesliga ascent. Meyer came in the Regionalliga Süd in round 23 games under coach OFC Kuno Klötzer for use and scoring two goals. In the Bundesliga seasons 1972/73 and 1973/74 he was with 33 league inserts an integral part of the team. In both years, Meyer and his team reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup, but the finals was denied him because of defeats against 1 FC Cologne and Hamburg SV. On August 31, 1973 ( 5th Round ) succeeded in a 4-0 win over his former club Werder Bremen to the hit to a 1-0 lead and his first Bundesliga goal.

For the season 1974/75 he moved back to the north German homeland, and he hired the second division club Hannover 96 at. Even with the Lower Saxony Meyer was able to make the perfect Bundesliga promotion in his first season. Coach Helmut Kronsbein brought the defender in 31 league games 1974/75 in addition to the regular players Franz -Josef Pauly, Rainer Stiller, Peter Anders, Gerd Kasperski, Bernd Wehmeyer, Peter Dahl and Roland Mayer Steg used. The 96er defense cashed in 38 competitive games only 39 goals conceded. But after just one season excellence - Meyer graduated from 24 Bundesliga games - had to take the course in 1976 in the 2nd league again Hannover. Meyer remained in the Bundesliga with his move to Borussia Dortmund maintained. In Dortmund he was under coaches such as Otto Rehhagel or Udo Lattek never fully regulars came in the four seasons with Borussia but after all 79 Bundesliga games.

In his career, Meyer denied 201 appearances in the Bundesliga, where he was able to achieve three goals. These 31 second division games and 29 games came in the DFB Cup.

Others

Meyer is a qualified office equipment mechanic. After his career, he worked from 1981 as a supervisor of commercial customers at Allianz Insurance.
