Hermann Bischoff

Hermann Bischoff ( born January 7, 1868 in Duisburg, † January 25, 1936 in Berlin) was a German composer and pupil of Richard Strauss.

Life

Bischoff comes from a wealthy industrialist family in Duisburg. After a short lesson in Leipzig he went about 1888 to Munich. In 1898 he married the coming of Constantine Opel painter Marie Himmighoffen ( 1874-1961 ). In subsequent years he maintained close contacts with the Art Nouveau painter Fritz Erler and with the historian and syndic of the Royal Bavarian Academy of Sciences Karl Mayr ( 1864-1917 ).

With almost all representatives of the Munich composer - school to Ludwig Thuille and Max von Schillings Hermann Bischoff was in amicable and collegial relationship.

Bischoff created in his 68 years of life only a few compositions. The last five years of life he no longer wrote, but earned his living in Berlin copyright society.
