Hermann Lebert

Her ( r) man Lebert ( born June 9, 1813 in Breslau, † 1878 in Bex, Vaud Canton ) was a German pathologist. In 1841 he became a Swiss citizen in Bex, Vaud Canton.

Lebert studied from 1831-1834 Medicine and science in Berlin and later in Zurich, among others Karl Asmund Rudolphi, Johann Lukas Schönlein and Lorenz Oken, then continued his studies until 1836 in Paris continued and returned to Switzerland in 1836 in order to be practical since 1836 worked as a spa doctor and clinicians. In addition, he introduced - usually during the winter months - his scientific work in Paris next (1842-1845), where he moved in 1846 entirely, but where he also maintained an extensive practice. He then taught as a professor of clinical medicine in Zurich (1853-1859) and in Breslau ( 1859-1874 ). When in 1874 his clinical and teaching activities gave up, he returned to Bex, where he died in 1878.

He was one of the first to use the microscope in pathology.
