Hermann von Bönninghausen

Hermann von Bœnninghausen, nicknamed "Ajax", ( born July 24, 1888 in Bocholt, † January 26, 1919 in Dusseldorf ) was a German athlete and participant in the 1908 Olympic Games in London and 1912 in Stockholm.

Hermann von Bœnninghausen was born the son of the government lawyers August from Bœnninghausen in Bocholt and arrived early at the domestic BFC 1900 to the sport. As a football player and track and field athlete, he was active in later years also for the clubs SC Preußen Duisburg and Munich gymnastics club in 1860. In 1907, Hermann von Bœnninghausen set with 6.56 m to a new German record in the long jump, he could still improve in the same year to 6.80 m. About 110 meters hurdles he ran in 1911 in 16.4 s also German record. At the Olympic Games in 1908 started from Bœnninghausen in the sprint competition in the 100 meters and long jump, 1912 in Stockholm in the disciplines of long jump, triple jump and 110 - meter hurdles.

Hermann von Bœnninghausen died at the age of 30 from a disease as a result of the First World War.
