Hermann von Münster

Hermann von Münster (* 1330, † March 1392 in Metz ) was a Gothic stained glass artists. He probably came from Münster in Westphalia. With it, the French Gothic stained glass reached its artistic and technical climax.

Hermann is the first glass painter who is mentioned in the archives of the cathedral chapter of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Metz by name. On August 29, 1381 he received a payment of £ 22 for the execution of a window. The window was donated by Cardinal William Aigrefeuille, a legacy of anti-Pope Clement VII in 1384 there were negotiations between a committee of the chapter and Hermann on payments for the execution of large rose in the Metz Cathedral.
