Herminio Masantonio

Herminio Masantonio (* August 5, 1910 in Ensenada, † September 11, 1956 ) was an Argentine football player. His career began in 1931 coincided with the establishment of the Liga Argentina de Fútbol, the first professional league of his country. For twelve years he ran for the club CA Huracán before he moved in 1943. However, in the Uruguayan Defensor Sporting Club and the Argentine club Banfield he could not build on his outstanding performances and ended after one year of return to CA Huracán his career. With a total of 256 league goals he still holds the third rank in the top goalscorers list of the Primera División.

From 1935 to 1942 Masantonio completed in seven years, 19 games for the Argentina national team, scoring 21 goals. The sweeps of the Copa América in 1935 and 1942, he reached the second place team in each case and was in both tournaments with four and seven-goal scorer.

Masantonio died in 1956 at the age of only 46 years.
