Hermogenes Ebdane

Hermognes Edejer Ebdane, Jr. ( born December 30, 1948 in Candelaria, Zambales Province, Philippines ) is a Filipino former general and politician.

Biography

Studies and climb to the Chief of Police

After schooling, he studied civil engineering and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS Civil Engineering ) from. He subsequently resigned as an officer cadet in the Philippine Armed Forces ( Armed Forces of the Philippines, AFP ), and was a graduate of the Military Academy ( Philippine Military Academy ), where he graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree. A later post-graduate studies in criminology, he finished with a Master of Science ( M.Sc.Criminology ). In addition, a doctorate in Peace and Security Administration, he was verliegen.

During his further military training, he was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College of the United States Army at Fort Leavenworth and participants in courses and safety seminars at the U.S. anti-terrorist group by the U.S. State Department, the Police Academy of Singapore, the International Academy of Law of Thailand (International Law Enforcement Academy ) and the National training Center for Intelligence ( National Intelligence training Center ), and the training school of the Special Intelligence Service (Special Intelligence Training School).

Between the individual studies and theoretical training, he was deployed on several service Porsten within the AFP and the Philippine Constabulary (PC), the predecessor of today's National Police ( Philippine National Police, PNP). First, he was commander of the PC in the province of Nueva Ecija and then commander of the battalion of the presidential guard. After working as Commanding Officer of the Special Forces of the PC he was commander of the police district West. This was followed by use as a regional director of the PC of Metro Manila ( National Capital Region). He was also head of the National Anti- Kidnapping Task Force ( NAKTAF ) and then director of the PNP for human capital development and teaching.

After further work as Deputy Chief PNP for Administration he was appointed as successor by Leandro Mendoza July 2002 to August 2004 finally himself chief of the Philippine National Police and as such was General Director of Police (Police Director General ) in the rank of general.

Minister and presidential candidate

After his retirement from active police service, he was appointed as the successor of Norberto Gonzales in August 2004 by President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo to the national security adviser and the Director General of the National Security (National Security Council).

On 15 February 2005, the President beief him as Minister of Public Works and Highways ( Secretary of Public Works and Highways ) in her cabinet.

In a cabinet reshuffle in February 2007 he was Minister of Defense ( Secretary of National Defense), but resumed after a new cabinet reshuffle on 4 July 2007 again the Office of the Minister of Public Works and Highways.

On 22 October 2009, he resigned and was replaced as Minister of Victor Domingo.

Ebdane, who is chairman of the party " Lapiang Manggagawa " is announced to run for the presidential elections on 10 May 2010. He also relies on the support of former President Fidel Ramos, as he served as a general in the AFP and Philippine Constabulary.
