Herrentunnel

The Lord Tunnel is a toll road tunnel which passes under in the course of Travemünde Road (B 75 / B 104) between Lübeck and Travemünde, the Travelodge.

History

The 866 m long tunnel with two tubes for two per lane was opened on 26 August 2005, replacing the need of rehabilitation Lord Bridge of 1964, which was demolished in 2006.

After the Warnow Tunnel in Rostock, with significantly higher fees, this is the second general toll road project in Germany. The construction and operation of the Herren Tunnel occurs as with the Warnow tunnel under a Public Private Partnership. Support for road construction is the city of Lübeck. The total cost amounted to 176 million euros, of which the Federal Republic of Germany has contributed as initial funding of 77 million euros. To finance a toll had been approved by DM 1 for passenger cars frequent drivers originally.

Operation

The toll plaza is located on the Lübeck side of the tunnel. In contrast to the previous bridge of the tunnel for cyclists, moped drivers, pedestrians and riders is not enabled. Cyclists, moped riders and pedestrians are, however, associated with a certain waiting time, but transported to the user free shuttle bus. The buses run from 5:00 bis 21:00 clock clock on a schedule, which had a 15 - minute cycle in winter 2007/ 2008. Outside of these times there was a call. For the concession period of 30 years, but the company expects operators alone at a cost of around 30 million euros for the shuttle bus. Because of this expense is being given to rebuild a tunnel lane as a replacement for the shuttle transport and to lead a combined bike and walk through the tunnel. However, the 6% ascent/des- not for all participants (older cyclists, wheelchair users) are easy to deal with. Also ensure that the bike path is massively separated from the roadway to avoid a collision with the other traffic, on the other hand, the means of escape for motorists and cyclists must not be blocked.

The number of users specified in the planning phase, never materialized. The first estimated 45,000 vehicles with daily number of users has already been corrected in the contract of 1999 to 37,000. In the first months after the release (August to December 2005) there was an average of only 21,000 toll payers per day because many motorists despite higher operating costs take the 5-km long detour via the nearby A 226. Because even in 2006, not the expected number of toll payers used the tunnel, the toll was raised for a one time use from 1 October 2006 from 0.90 euros to 1.10 euros for a one way ticket for cash. On January 1, 2008, the toll was increased again. The clearance for larger cars, such as the so-called Vans, located at 2,30 €.

The traffic through the tunnel has been considerably relieved by the opening of Eric Warburg bridge in the course of Lübeck Nordtangente.

Toll

The road user is informed by a toll tag from the fees. He learns the exact rate until the pricelist of the paying agent, which is for both directions of travel on the south bank of the Trave River, where a contact is not possible.

Beginning of 2008 cost the passage for barzahlende cars and motorcycles 1,20 €. In addition, there are special rates for attending the automatic charging means of the so-called Quick-Box and a special rate for commuters and frequent travelers. At this rate a drive-through cost 0,60 €. The use of the Herren Tunnel costs since March 1, 2013 a car 1,50 €, with the quick box there are 1,20 Euro. The operator refers to the fact that prices were still below the amount contractually agreed. Moreover, it was the first increase in three years.
