Herta Herzog

Herta Herzog- Massing ( born August 14, 1910 in Vienna, † 25 February, 2010 Leutasch ) was an Austrian- American social and communication researcher.

As part of the "Radio Project " of their temporary partner and husband Paul Lazarsfeld, she worked in the 1930s and 1940s in exploring the new medium of radio.

Her essay " What Do We Really Know About Daytime Serial Listeners? " considered a pioneer work for the Gratifikationsforschung and thus for the cognitive turn in the media.

With her ​​second husband Paul Massing, she returned to Austria and lived to old age in Leutasch, Tirol.
