Hervé-Maria Le Cléac'h

Hervé -Maria Le Cléac'h SSCC ( born March 11, 1915 in Dinéault, Brittany, France, † August 14, 2012 in Papeete, French Polynesia) was Bishop of Taiohae o Tefenuaenata.

Life

Hervé -Maria Le Cléac'h joined the Congregation of the Fathers at Arnstein and was ordained priest on 18 December 1943. He then went into the mission. In 1970, he was Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Taiohae in Nuku Hiva.

In 1973 he was called by Pope Paul VI. appointed bishop of Taiohae on the island of Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas. He received his episcopal consecration on 24 June 1973, the Archbishop of Papeete, Michel - Gaspard Coppenrath; Co-consecrators were Pierre -Paul -Émile Martin SM, Archbishop of Nouméa, and Laurent Fuahea, Bishop of Wallis and Futuna. During his tenure, the diocese was renamed the Diocese Taiho Taiohae o Tefenuaenata. On 31 May 1985 he was made Chevalier Guy as coadjutor to the side. His resignation was accepted in 1989 by John Paul II.

Hervé -Maria Le Cléac'h designed in 1984 (unofficial ) flag of the Marquesas Islands; officially the flag of French Polynesia or the French tricolor must be used. He devoted himself to the culture and language of the Marquesas; he translated the Psalms and liturgical texts in the indigenous language. He was involved relevant for Terre des Hommes and was called by the locals " Teikimeiteaki a Punatete " ( "Lord of Heaven" ).
