Herxheim (Verbandsgemeinde)

The community association Herxheim is an administrative unit in the form of a local authority in the district of Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. The municipality includes four local communities, the administrative headquarters are in the eponymous municipality Herxheim.

History

The community association Herxheim was from projects launched in the 1960s, Rhineland-Palatinate territorial and administrative reform on the basis of the " Thirteenth state law on administrative simplification in the land of Rhineland -Palatinate " dated 1 March 1972 entered into force on 22 April 1972 newly formed.

The association council Herxheim consists of 28 volunteer council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the full-time mayor as chairman.

Mayor

The mayor is elected by direct vote for a term of eight years.

Elmar Weiller (CDU ) since 1973, was mayor of the municipality Herxheim. In the election on 6 May 2007, he is due to old age no longer started. He was succeeded on 1 September 2007 Franz -Ludwig Trauth (independent), the (CDU ) had prevailed in the runoff election on 20 May 2007, 55.15 percent Georg Kern.

Traffic

The Palatine Maximilian Railway has with the stations Insheim and Rohrbach (Pfalz ) through two holding within the municipality. Herxheim itself was tethered 1898-1994 about a coming from Landau branch line of the railway network.
