Atrial fibrillation - The Clinic at Sea ( second season: atrial fibrillation - love of life ) is a German soap opera that was produced from November 2010 to February 2012 on behalf of the ZDF and was seen in April 2011 in the afternoon program. According to the ZDF she is the first so-called Medical Daily on German television. Following an extension of the series before transmission start 200 episodes were initially planned. On 29 September 2011 the station ordered an additional 55 episodes, so that the format ultimately came to 255 episodes.

Background

In mid-2010 it was announced that the ZDF is planning a new daily series. Produces the format of the television production Bavaria GmbH, the filming started on 22 November 2010 at the site of the Bavaria Film Studios in Grünwald near Munich Geiselgasteig. The series was aired from April 4th, 2011 at 14:25 clock on ORF 2, at 16:15 clock in the ZDF and at 16:55 on SF 1, whereby the Medical Daily on both in Germany and in Austria and Switzerland these time slots the ratio weak telenovela Lena - Love of my life replacing whose Original Air Date was postponed in Germany and Austria on the sending places of the previous day repeats in the morning.

Over time, a steady downward trend became apparent in the prices of the series. By November 2011, the soap was with less than 2% market share in the advertising-relevant group far below the channel's average, which is why the ZDF finally officially announced on 1 December 2011, the end of the format. The series was on show until 30 December 2011 at the transmitter afternoon program, before the remaining episodes from 1 January 2012 aired in the night program of the ZDF and since January 2, 2012 also in each case on the morning of the following day against 11:10 clock on ZDFneo were repeated. Reason for stopping was that the production - even with the start of a second season and the associated content and personal changes - could not achieve the desired success with viewers. The production of the series end on 2 February 2012. The last episode of the series was shown on ZDF and on April 19, April 18, at ZDFneo. Following this latter station started from 20 April a repeat broadcast of the series.

Action

Center of the plot is located in the fictional town of Sonneberg hospital. The focus here is mainly the clinic boss Johanna Lindner and her husband, Judge Thomas Lindner. Her son Markus Lindner is also a doctor and is about to marry the new Assistant Doctor Marie Egger. Other characters are the chief of surgery Roland Bernheimer, his wife Shirley Wilson, the nurse Karen, Henriette and Mesut and the head nurse Ursula. In July, the station announced that from October 2011, new figures in Sonneberg and Seeklinik catchment can be obtained. In the course of left among other Nova Meier Henrich ( played Dr. Marie Egger ), which stood for the beginning of the series between two men, with their not communicated almost to the end " prince charming " the Seeklinik and thus the series. This development happens in the Sender but according to script and was otherwise planned from the beginning of the shooting. From October 2011, the course was set with the emergence of, among others, three new physicians for new stories in and around Sonneberg.
