Heude's pig

The Annamite Warty Pig (Sus bucculentus ) is a controversial mammal in the family of the Real pigs ( Suidae ).

1892 were found in the region of Annam in Vietnam two skulls of this type. Then there were no more, so that the type was already considered extinct documents. In 1995, however, the incomplete, but fresh skull of a young male animal in Laos was discovered, which has led to the presumption that nature could still exist. But further details are not known, the IUCN leads the way in " too little data available " ( data deficient ).

Also, the taxonomic status is controversial. Genetic studies indicate that these animals could only be a variant of the wild boar, other researchers consider the type, however, as conspecific with the Javan Warty Pig. A definitive answer to this question will probably only bring further discoveries.
