Hexetidin is an antiseptic that is used in 0.1 or 0.2 % solution in the mouth and throat. It is available as a gargle and as a spray.

Chemical Properties

Hexetidine is a hexahydro- pyrimidine derivative. It is an amphiphilic compound.

Effect

Hexetidin has a broad spectrum antiseptic action against bacteria and fungi, but mainly against gram-positive bacteria. It also has local anesthetic, astringent and deodorizing effects.
