Hey, Porter is a country song by Johnny Cash, the recorded this with the Tennessee Two at Sun Records in September 1954. As a producer Sam Phillips acted. Published on June 21, 1955 Single Sun 221 was the first in the Cash's long career. The B- side of the single was Cry! Cry! , The number 14 on the Billboard Country Songs achieved, Cry! While Hey, Porter missed the charts. The piece was re- released as a single in 1969; this time under the Sun 1103 Hey Porter along with Get Rhythm.

The lyrics is about a man who is homesick and by train from the north back to his home, the Southern travels while crossing the Mason - Dixon line in the direction of Tennessee. The text was originally written as a poem of cash during his time in the Air Force and published in the army magazine Stars and Stripes.

The song was published in 1972 by Ry Cooder on his second album, Into the Purple Valley.
