Hey, Slavs

Hey Sloveni ( Hey, Slavs ) from 1945 to 2003, the national anthem of Yugoslavia and until 2006 the anthem of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. In 1848 it was the Slavic Congress in Prague as a " national anthem of the Slavs " (which was mainly of Slovaks, Slovenes, Croats, Serbs, and Poland strongly supported ) as part of the pan-Slavic movement was adopted.

For the text of the Slovak Samuel Tomášik is responsible, who originally wrote it under the title Hey, Slováci ( Hey, Slovaks ) ( this version is in Slovakia used to this day ). He used the melody of the Polish anthem Mazurek Dąbrowskiego as a template. The song was also the official anthem of the First Slovak Republic ( 1939-1945).

A backed with electric guitar version of the Yugoslav national anthem was heard on the LP Kosovska djevojka (1984 ) the group Bijelo Dugme.

The original Slovak version

Hey, Slováci, Este naša Slovenská reč žije, Dokiaľ naše Verné srdce za narod náš bije.

Žije, žije, Duch norsk, žiť bude na veky, Hrom a peklo, Marne Vaše proti nám sú vzteky!

Jazyka is sveril nám Boh, Boh náš hromovládny, Nesmie nám ho teda vyrvať na tom svete žiadny;

I nechže per Kolko Ludi, Tolko v Čertov svete; Boh per s nami: kto proti nám, toho parom zmetie.

I nechže sa i nad nami hrozna Bura vznesie, Scale Puka, dub sa lame a zem nech sa trasie;

My stojíme stále pevne, ako Mury hradné Čierna zem pohltí toho, kto odstúpi zradne!

German translation

Hey Slovaks still alive our Slovak language, as long as our faithful heart proposes for our people.

It lives, it lives the Slovak spirit, he will live forever, Thunder and hell, vain is your Rage against us!

The gift of language gave us God, donnerherrschender our God, there they may forward to this world no tear;

And even if there are so many devil as people in the world are, God is with us, who is against us, the sweeping away Perun.

And even if through us a terrible storm rises, the rock jumps, the oak breaks and the earth trembles;

We stand firmly on like castle walls. The black earth swallowed the, which comes treacherously to the side!

Live, live Slavic spirit, You will live for centuries, In vain threatening abyss of hell, In vain fire the flash.

Should now also about us The storm carry everything The rock shatter, the oak burst, So why not let the earth shake.

We are steadfast Just as rocks, Damned be the traitor His native land.
