Hi Records

Hi Records was an American record label, founded in 1957 by musicians Ray Harris, Bill Cantrell and Quinton Claunch along with the music store owner Joe Cuoghi in Memphis, Tennessee.

History

With the success streak of Sun Records label more quickly were founded. Ray Harris, a former artist at Sun, teamed up with the two studio musicians Quinton Claunch and Bill Cantrell, who were also employed by Sun, together, to set up Hi Records. With the increasingly popular disco music end of the 1970s, the importance of the label increasingly disappeared. 1977 Hi Records was sold to Cream Records, which re- publishes today some of the most successful releases under the original label name on CD.
