Hialeah Gardens is a city in Miami -Dade County in the U.S. state of Florida with 21,744 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Hialeah Gardens is located about 10 km north- west of Miami, bordering the municipalities Hialeah and Medley.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 21,744 inhabitants distributed to 6,629 households. The population density was 3345.2 inh. / Km ². 92.9 % of the population were white, 2.2% African American, 0.1% Native American and 1.7 % Asian Americans. 2.7% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.4% in different ethnic groups. 94.9% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 32.0 % of all households lived in 46.3 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 85.0 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 3.37 persons and the average family size is 3.54 people.

29.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.1% were 20-39 years old, 29.9% were 40-59 years old and 18.8 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 39 years. 47.9 % of the population were male and 52.1% female.

The average annual income was $ 42,672, while 16.3 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 4.31 % of the population spoke Spanish and 95.68 %.

Traffic

Hialeah Gardens adjacent to the U.S. Highway 27 and to the Florida State Roads 25, 821 ( Homestead Extension of Florida 's Turnpike, a toll road ) and 826 ( Palmetto Expressway). The Miami airport is about 8 km southeast of the city.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 311 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There were three rapes, 17 robberies, 32 injuries, 119 burglaries, 792 thefts, 78 car thefts and four arson.
