Hideki Matsui

Hideki Matsui (Japanese松井 秀 喜Matsui Hideki, born June 12, 1974 in Neagari, County Nomi, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese baseball player in Major League. His nickname is Godzilla.

Career

His talent was already in school, where he participated in four outstanding high school tournaments. In one of these games in 1992, he got five Intentional Walks, which was entirely unusual in Japan at that time. Because of its impact strength he was gedrafted of the most successful Japanese baseball team, the Yomiuri Giants in the first round. Three times Matsui was elected in the Japanese league MVP. There he came to his nickname Godzilla, which also earned him an appearance in the film Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla.

In 2003, Matsui of the New York Yankees, for whom he played all the games in his first three seasons in the Major League. Previously, he had played in Japan in 1573 games without a break. In his first two years in New York, he was selected for each of the MLB All- Star Game. In 2009 he not only won with the Yankees in person for the first time the World Series, but also became the best player in the Series ( MVP) selected.
