Hidrocystoma

A Hidrozytom (English hydrocytoma; ICD -O 8404 / 0) is a benign tissue formation ( neoplasia) of the family of adenomas. These are cystic papules of the sweat gland transfer (retention cysts ).

Depending on the sweat gland are affected, a distinction is made in eccrine Hidrozytom (also known as sweat retention cyst ) or apocrine Hidrozytom (also called apocrine cystadenoma ). This classification is indeed disproved by recent immunohistochemical studies, as some express eccrine Hidrozystome apocrine antigens, but has historical reasons still valid.

Description and Diagnosis

Hidrozytome are characterized by translucent bluish nodules ( solitary ) usually occur singly. The blue color arises by means of the Tyndall effect. Histopathologically, one recognizes uni- or multilocular cystic areas within the dermis. Multiple Hidrozytome occur during pumping -Schulz - Passarge syndrome, a rare autosomal recessive genodermatosis on.

Eccrine Hidrozytome are often located on the eyelid or the cheeks.

Therapy

The removal of Hidrozytoms may be indicated for cosmetic reasons or functionally disturbing cysts. Various forms of treatment Hidrozytomen described. In addition to simple excision, these are the high-frequency surgery, irradiation with infrared lasers ( CO2 laser or 1450 nanometer diode laser ) and trichloroacetic acid.
