Hieronymus Dungersheim

Jerome Dungersheim called Ochsenfart (* April 22, 1465 in Ochsenfurt, † March 2, 1540 in Leipzig ) was a German theologian. He was professor of theology in Leipzig and the Catholics opponent of Luther.

Dungersheim attended from 1479 the cathedral school in Würzburg. In 1484 he enrolled at the University of Leipzig. 1485, he earned the first degree of bachelor of arts. 1489 he received his doctorate and received the degree of Master of Arts.

1495 received Hieronymus then in Würzburg ordination and Sententiar was at the theological faculty of Leipzig. He also was appointed as a preacher to Chemnitz. In 1496 he earned a licentiate in Cologne.

1501 he was appointed preacher at St. Mary's Church in Zwickau. In 1504 he received the degree of Doctor of Theology at the University of Siena. In the winter semester 1504/ 05 he took up teaching in Leipzig again and was accepted in 1506 as a member of the theological faculty. 1508 was Dungersheim Vice-Chancellor and in the summer semester 1510 Rector of the University of Leipzig.
