Higashisumiyoshi-ku, Osaka

Higashisumiyoshi -ku (Japanese东 住 吉 区) is one of 24 districts ( ku ) of Osaka, Japan.

Geography

Higashisumiyoshi -ku is located in the south of Osaka Sumiyoshi -ku between the districts and Abeno -ku in the West, Ikuno -ku in the north, Hirano -ku to the east and the city boundary to the south.

History

The municipality was separated from Sumiyoshi -ku on 1 April 1943.

The district Higashisumiyoshi was one of the first, which set up a local cooperative to support older people in light of the rapid aging of Japanese society.
