High Court of Australia

The High Court of Australia is the highest court in Australia. It decides under Article 71 of the Australian Constitution as a last instance court of appeal in civil and criminal matters, but also to decide the next task in constitutional disputes and can be checked by judicial review of legislation of Parliament. The court is located in Canberra. By the Privy Council ( Appeals from the High Court ) Act 1975 except in constitutional decisions, it was possible to challenge the decision of the High Court by appeal to the Privy Council.
