High-density storage media

HD stands for high density, which means high density or high compressed to German. In the two following storage media High Density refers to the amount of memory compared to the previous media.

  • HD DVD - was a candidate for the succession of the DVD, but lost to the Blu- ray Disc
  • High-density diskettes ( abbreviated HD) are 3.5 "disks with 1440 KB of memory ( compared with double-density disks with typically 720 KB ) or 5.25 " disks with 1.2 MB of storage.
