Highest intercostal artery

The artery intercostal suprema ( "supreme intercostal artery ") is an artery of the chest wall. It arises when people mostly from the costocervical trunk and feeds the first two posterior intercostal arteries ( posterior intercostal artery I and II) that run in each intercostal space to the front.

In most other mammals, the artery behaves similarly, here it arises either from the costocervical trunk or directly from the subclavian artery or the innominate artery and feeds the first, in animals as back -side intercostal arteries ( intercostal arteries dorsal ) designated vessels. In dogs, the corresponding blood vessel posterior to the ribs necks, which is why it is referred to as deviant thoracic vertebral artery in these animals runs.
