Highway M12 (Ukraine)

The M 12 is a highway of international importance in Ukraine. It runs from Stry in the Lviv Oblast east across Ternopil, Khmelnitsky, Vinnitsa, Uman and Kirovohrad after Snamjanka.

History

The route from Striy to Tarnopol belonged until 1918 to the Austrian crown land Galicia and was referred to as Brzeżanyer Reichsstrasse. Through this area was the Eastern Front of the First World War.

The distance between Tarnopol and Podwoloczyska belonged 1918-1939 to the territory of the Second Polish Republic and was declared by the Polish Roads Act of 10 December 1920, State Street ( droga Państwowa ).

During the Second World War, this road should be extended as a thoroughfare IV to the Caucasus.
