Hilary Spurling

Hilary Spurling CBE, FRSL ( born December 25, 1940 in Manchester, England) is a British journalist, writer and biographer.

Life

Spurling was at the Clifton High School, a non-governmental school in Bristol in southwest England, brought up before she went to the University of Oxford to study. From 1962-1970 she worked as a theater and literary critic for the British magazine The Spectator. Even today (2011 ) to publish book reviews in The Observer and The Daily Telegraph.

Spurling is married to playwright John Spurling and has three children.
